Perhaps you are a school dropout, a graduate from college or the university who is just starting life.
Life can be difficult when you have no one to guide your paths into the right direction. Some people are very fortunate to have parents who give them some advice, others too don’t have that kind of opportunity.
Those who lost their parents at a very young age find life to be extremely hard, they’re usually found on streets hustling everyday to make a living.
Today you see them owning companies, cars, and big mansions. They’ve turned their side hustle into multimillion dollar businesses, changing from rags to riches.
Life can teach so many lessons when you make mistakes in the past but all is worth it. Failure plays a very big part in people’s lives, it’s the only way to spot some weaknesses, strengths and capabilities. It also helps to transform and shapen you as a person.
You may be facing or going through hard times now but it’s never too late to make a difference in this world, opportunities are still there, you only need someone to mentor and coach you to utilize them and start in the right direction.
Let me tell you the story of Colonel Sanders, owner of KFC.
At age 5 his Father died.
At 16 he quit school.
Around 17 years he had already lost four jobs.
At age 18 he got married.
Between ages 18 and 22, he was a railroad conductor and failed.
Joined the army and washed out there.
Applied for law school he was rejected.
Became an insurance sales man and failed again.
At age 19 he became a father.
At age 20 his wife left him and took their baby daughter.
He became a cook and dishwasher in a small cafe.
He failed in an attempt to kidnap his own daughter, and eventually he convinced his wife to return home.
At age 65 he retired.
On the 1st day of retirement he received a cheque from the Government for $105.
He felt that the Government was saying that he couldn’t provide for himself.
He decided to commit suicide, it wasn’t worth living anymore; he had failed so much.
He sat under a tree writing his will, but instead, he wrote what he would have accomplished with his life.
He realised there was much more that he hadn’t done.
There was one thing he could do better than anyone he knew. And that was how to cook.
So he borrowed $87 against his cheque and bought and fried up some chicken using his recipe, and went door to door to sell them to his neighbours in kentucky.
Remember at age 65 he was ready to commit suicide.
But at age 88, Colonel Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Empire became a billionaire.
Moral of the story: “Attitude”.
It’s never too late to start something new
Most importanly, it’s all about your attitude. Never give up no matter how hard it gets.
You have what it takes to be successful. Go for it and make a difference. No guts no glory. It’s never too old to dream.
At this present age, you still have a chance to make that dream come true.
Age is Just a Number!
Age is just a number when your thoughts are revolutionary.
How old are you now, 35, 45, 55, 65, 80?
There is no limited age for success.
All you need is Patience and Hardwork.
I would like to take two examples to make you understand the real scenario:
Colonel Sanders (Founder of KFC): At the age of 65 he established this astonishing food corp-KFC. During 1970s his company gained good momentum and he is 80 at that moment.
Today, KFC is successfully running over 20,000 locations globally in 123 countries and territories as of December 2015.
Don’t Be Scared to Start Something New
First, I appreciate that you have thought of something new as you haven’t mentioned anything about it.
I would say, why do you need to fear for a new change?.
Infact you must be greatful to taking up such a decision and moving on with that new thought positively forward.
its just our mind and soul that makes us feel the way we are upto.
If things aren’t working, change into something else but do not backdrop. live life on your terms!!.
Nobody have the right to ask you for changing yourself to a better person. Remember “They will encourage you to become a better person but never best than them” so you decide what you can do to start your life in anyway no matter how bad or painful or regretful past you had.
It doesn’t matter, life goes on so just experiment everything fearlessly!.
Fear of New Beginnings
Tip: Do the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain. — Mark Twain
When I thought of starting my blog, initially I was scared that it would be a failure. Then I thought of the first time when I had the same thought while travelling.
I realized my fear of heights during rappelling in Pangot. On that fine morning, when the instructor showed how rappelling is done, it looked very easy and smooth.
As I ascended the rock and looked down, my heartbeat fastened and I felt I would fall and die.
My legs were jammed in one place and even though the trainer kept saying it is safe and nothing would happen, I feared either the rope would break or loosen and I would injure myself.
I waited there and after a while, mustered up some courage and went.
I was all set for rappel with harness in place around my waist and positioned myself along the edge.
But a sense of unease prevailed for what was about to come next and I prayed for this experience to get over at the earliest.
I started the descend as instructed and the sense of uneasiness started washing over.
Though I was steady but it was not a smooth ride. After a point, it became tough due to the shape of the rock and exhaustion only worsened it.
Instead of listening to the instructor, I hastily stepped at what seemed like a sure footing and hit the rock.
Thanks to the helmet, I did not hit my head. As I hit the rock, I lost my balance and kept hanging loosely from the rope.
Due to this, the rope tied around my waist tightened and my arms continued to scrape and bruise along the rough edges of rock.
I completed remainder of the process by scraping and hanging as I was too nervous to place my feet back on the rock.
When I finally touched ground, I was relieved. I was in pain, not only because of the bruises on my arms and waist but also as I had torn the sleeves of my top. I was upset because only a few people got injured and I was among them. I felt weak and that lowered my self-esteem.
After two days when the pain subsided, I thought it was better to have suffered this pain than not having experienced it at all.
Had I given up initially, I would have only known that I fear heights.
But by going through with this adventure, I knew for sure that I will overcome it eventually.
The thought of facing my fear and overcoming it was far bigger than the pain suffered in the process.
I had the same resistance and fear while starting this blog.
But when I looked back to my first experience in adventure sports and how I have evolved since then, I just knew I have to start writing, no matter the results.
Because even if I may not succeed immediately, with continuous effort, it will happen.
People Become Afraid When Trying Out New Things
Fear is a paralyzing emotion that you feel when your brain warns you away from a potentially dangerous situation.
When you decide to walk on the edge of a slippery cliff, or pick a fist fight with an experienced boxer — these are the times when you will feel fear — and hopefully that feeling will protect you from serious consequences.
Now why would you feel fear when you are trying to learn something new?.
Why would you mind interpret this as “dangerous?”.
Did you have a traumatic experience when you were made to feel ashamed or embarrassed after trying to learn something new?.
Does learning something new remind you of a person or persons from whom your mind is attempting to protect you?
Did you ever have an experience where failing at something made you feel horrible?.
These are just a few of the possible reasons why you feel fear.
Good luck trying to find out what the cause is because it is likely repressed and lying deep in your subconscious where it is hard to get to.
If you could easily figure out what the fear is caused by, then you would would not be generating the protective emotion in a crippling way.
Rather than trying to unearth the cause, force your mind to learn. Whatever the reason, your mind is protecting you from doing something you seem to want to try and enjoy.
So, I suggest that you try hard to ignore the fear, and replace the bad memories and subsequent instincts with positive ones.
Set it up and make sure the plan does not backfire.
The most common reason I see people being “afraid” – (although that is sometimes used to cover up fear) to learn new things, is that they are afraid to fail and nervous about coming face to face with their actual abilities rather than the talent they wish they had or think they have.
Ironically, the way to develop bona fide talent is to learn and practice and repeat.
So this bad cycle makes people get stuck. They are afraid to commit to trying because of fear of failure, and that makes them less capable because of lack of practice, and then the fear deepens.
You must believe that there is never anything to be ashamed of except not trying hard.
Replace the shame of feeling slow or dumb with a fear of being lazy and indolent.
Get a coach who builds your confidence and praises your efforts rather than your innate talent. Which is why you must join our group of world class entrepreneurs.
People Think It’s Hard To Start Something New
I think starting is most probably the hardest part because in order to start something new we should have an idea about what we are about to do right?.
Above all we should have a clear goal. While starting something new firstly we have to move out from our comfort zone but most of the people will stuck in their comfort zone and get demotivated to do new things.
Some people have big dreams but they don’t have the idea about how to implement it.
There are some other type of people who have some big dreams but at first they will try to figure out what are the difficulties they have to face, and while seeing that difficulties they lose hope and stop working towards their dreams .
So if you really want to start something new then you should have the courage to face the adversities of life.
Doing something new demands a new version of an individual.
For example, to set up a new routine, we have to change ourselves first or if we want to start a new work, which requires our extra time and stony effort, and so we have to change ourselves according to need.
Sometimes, the society too raise questions which may disturb a person and can make it hard for him to start a new work.
Or maybe a new thing demands extra money too, which will make it hard to do or stay with the vision.
Your First Steps to Start Something New
The japanese use a PDCA technique for this approach.
Before starting anything new they do the PDCA.
- P – Plan
- D – Do
- C – Check
- A – Act
Plan – Identify the problem and think whatever best you can think to solve the problem and plan out a solution.
Do – Excercise the sloution at a very small scale. Apply your plan to the problem. No doubt there will be mistakes.
Check – Note the observations and feedbacks of your plan. Also does it eliminate the problem your were facing in the beginning.
Act – After removing all the faults in your plan act accordingly.
